Jeezus!
How friggin long does it take for your friends to post your bail?
Ah well, I'm out. Out and back.
I spent most of the day cruising bike porn at mtbr.com. Best part is I'm doing it from work.
After swearing off the high $$$$ bike parts for the better part of 3 months.....I find myself driving by bike shops late at night. Sometimes I don't even need anything, I'm just compelled to drive by.
Yesterday, I went in. It never was even fair. They had a glass display case with lots of those Chris King shiny bits and stuff. I swear I was just lookin.
An axle is not a hub. It is a part of a hub. It is a 45gram tube of aluminum, that fits between the bearings and is stuffed into the hub.
Mine broke.
I needed a new one. The broken one worked, it just couldn't be 'serviced' and would eventually need to be taken apart.
What better excuse to drop $100.00 and buy a 'new axle'. Oh, lest I forget, I needed the specific brand of oil for the hub. Manufactured by the maker of the hub, 3/4 oz....yep......$11.00.
Chris King is overhyped, overpriced, fragile stuff.
That's why I'm saving up for their new headset and bottom brackets when they come out.
